With utmost sincerity I take refuge and pay homage!
Establishing teachings according to each place, he delivers people through kalpa after kalpa. Teacher to sovereigns, teacher to emperors, teacher to kings, he borrowed names and changed his titles; establishing the way of heaven, the way of earth, and the way of humanity, he concealed the sage and showed himself as ordinary. He commands the twelve hundred official lords and embraces the Brahma qi of myriad millions of layers. His transformations pervade past and present; he wrote the Tao and its Virtue in five thousand words. He holds yin and yang in his grasp and commands the thunder with the numbers nine and five. Of great compassion and great vows, great sage of great mercy. Lord Lao the Most High (Taishang Laojun), the Heavenly Worthy of the Tao and Its Virtue (Daode Tianzun).
