Terms of Service

1. Scope

These terms cover all content and services offered on Oriental Taoist Culture (thetaohorizon.com, “the site”), including articles, videos, tools such as the BaZi chart, customer accounts, the Consult expert service and the Artifacts shop. The site is run by the operator of Oriental Taoist Culture (“we”, “us”).

By visiting or using the site you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, Copyright Notice and Disclaimer. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

2. Accounts

An account needs a valid email address, and you are responsible for keeping your password safe. Actions taken through your account are treated as yours; if you think someone else is using it, change your password and contact us at once.

You must be at least 16 years old, or have a parent’s or guardian’s consent, to open an account or submit a consultation.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use the site to post or spread unlawful, infringing, fraudulent or harassing material or malicious code; scrape the site in bulk by automated means; or disrupt the site or try to get around its security.

If you break these rules we may remove the material concerned and suspend or close the account.

4. Consult (expert consultations)

Consultations are given by the experts themselves. The site presents the experts’ profiles, passes your request on and helps arrange it; it takes no part in what is said in the consultation.

Fees shown are reference prices in US dollars. Once an expert accepts your request, you and the expert agree on how it will be delivered and settle payment directly; the site does not currently take any payment for consultations. Refunds and rescheduling are a matter between you and the expert; if you cannot agree, contact us and we will help.

You can cancel a request under “My consultations” at any time before an expert accepts it. Experts see your contact details only after they accept.

5. Artifacts

The site does not currently take payment, and checking out in the Artifacts shop does not charge you or ship anything. If online payment and delivery open later, we will publish separate terms of sale, delivery and returns.

6. Content and intellectual property

Who owns the site’s content and how you may use it are set out in our Copyright Notice.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The nature and limits of the site’s content are set out in our Disclaimer. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site.

We work to keep the site available but cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may pause features for maintenance or upgrades.

8. Changes and governing law

We may revise these terms from time to time and will update the “Last updated” date on this page; significant changes will be announced prominently on the site. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the site’s operator is established. Nothing in them takes away any protection the law of your own country gives you.
