About the BaZi chart
BaZi (八字, "eight characters"), also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, pairs a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch with the year, month, day and hour of birth. Xu Ziping of the Song dynasty set the method in order, so it is often called Zi Ping BaZi.
This calculator sets the month by the solar terms, casts the four pillars with their hidden stems and Ten Gods, weighs the Five Elements, and lists the ten-year luck cycles with a short reading based on the strength of the Day Master. You can enter a Gregorian or lunar date and correct for true solar time at your birthplace; if the hour is unknown, the reading uses the year, month and day only.
Everything is calculated in your browser and your birth details are not sent to our server. They go into a link only when you choose to share it. The chart is offered as reference for the study of traditional Chinese culture.
